Soft Matter is a peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing research on soft materials. A materials engineering professor at Iowa State University needed a 3D visualization of his research for the journal's back cover image. I created the illustration using Adobe Dimension. It was challenging to render the material properties of the particles — translating complex scientific specifications into realistic 3D textures and lighting. To ensure scientific accuracy, I worked closely with the professor throughout the process.
